     Some harmless animals have the warning colors of similar but dangerous animals.  This gives them a survival advantage since the colors deceive predators that they, too, are dangerous.


    It is named for Henry Walter Bates, an English Naturalist who described the phenomenon during his work in the Brazilian rainforests.
