Wood Warblers, family “Parulidae”, are a diverse family of New World songbirds.   58 species live in North America.  (Floyd, 2008)  Most of these are intercontinental migrants that winter in the Neotropics and breed in northern deciduous forests.  A few species winter in southern North America.

Suddenly and ephemerally abundant during spring migration, a glimpse of one of these colorful and active songbirds has turned many casual observers into hard-core birders.
