On July 25, 2009 Dianne Machesney led an outing to the Butler Freeport Trail, in Butler County, PA.  About 20 of us hiked the three miles from the Buffalo Township fire hall to Cabot.  We traveled at botanical speed, about .5 miles an hour.  I recorded 143 species of plants, 3 fungus and some insects.  My highlight was the Downy False Foxglove, a plant I’ve never seen before, and the Primrose Moth. a surprisingly colorful day-flying moth.

Here’s a link to our list of plants plus the fungus and invertebrates we identified.  I will add more as I hear from other participants.
